ASSB is a reflection of the headwaters which form the San Marcos River. The waters flow and mingle with the rivers Blanco and Guadalupe towards the Gulf of Mexico. So too, in this same concept, should the members of ASSB find their way to the band.

The Aquarena Springs Symphonic Band was organized and formed in November, 2020, but Michael L. Thielen. Musicians from Hays County and the surrounding areas are welcome to participate. Musicians range in age from 18 to 80+. High school students are encouraged to participate via an adult sponsor, with parent's permission. As the group develops and grows, new members are always welcomed to join.

The mission of the band is to provide musical enlightenment and enjoyment for the entire community. Audiences stretching from children to seniors enjoy the benefits of the band. The band is unique, as are the waters that form Spring Lake, once known as Aquarena Springs, an inspiration to the ensemble's name. May the music performed by ASSB be just as pristine.
